School of Golf: Sample Two Day Golf School Format
The program runs for 6 hours with either an 8:00 AM or 9:00
AM start. Assuming an 8:00 AM start you should arrive at
7:30 AM to discuss the days events, do some stretching and
finish your coffee. At 8:00 AM we will head out to one of
the greens to cover the short game techniques of chipping,
and pitching. We'll spend an hour to an hour and a
half in this area, with everyone trying a multitude of different
shots that you will be able to take directly to the golf
course.
Next, we'll head to the range where you will do some
warm up with a 7 or 8 iron. The first order of business will
be to video record your swing prior to any instruction, to
show you the swing that you brought to the school. I'll
also record my swing onto your video to demonstrate the
DNA characteristics of your swing that you will want to
work on, and demonstrate the corrections for future reference.
This will come in handy any time you are not playing up
to your standards in the future, as you will have an instant
reference to something you may have forgot.
During our lunch break we'll review the video, which
will give you some time to contemplate any suggestions that
may be made. After lunch, we'll head back to the
range to continue improving your swing. You will continue
to practice until the last hour of the day, which will be spent on putting.
The second day will be comprised of more full swing
instruction with all the clubs and some sand instruction
and practice before lunch. After lunch we will play the course where
you will have an opportunity to develop some critical on-course
management skills. We will play a scramble format where
everyone will hit from the same location so together we can assess
the situation, formulate a plan, choose our appropriate
clubs, set up properly and execute the shot. This method
is the best way for everyone to get the most out of the playing
experience. At 2:00 PM my time will be up and I will head
in allowing you to complete your 18 holes of golf.
The one-day school offers a condensed version of the two-day program,
where we cover 4 areas of short game and the video
analysis in the morning, and on course instruction in the
afternoon.
The two days allows you a little more time to
institute any changes, but my students equally enjoy both programs.
I hope to have the opportunity to improve your game.
Sincerely,
Scott Mayer PGA
